So this is a record of growing, cooking, and eating good Italian food. The project is primarily for my children to have, as my way to pass on the recipes that have been handed down from my Nonna and my mother. They find their roots in le Marches, on the Adriatic coast of central Italy. Both my Nonno and Nonna emigrated from that region to the U.S. Nonno, Luigi, from Castel Colonna in 1916, and Josephine from the coastal city of Fano a bit later. These recipes descended from the food they experienced in le Marches, adapted to ingredients available in the United States.
